Every Day Free – But Never Cheap!
Exclusively for RapidWeaver users • only free and low-cost stuff

Another RapidWeaver blog

Yes, it's true: one more blog about our favorite web site building application for MacOSX. But this one is a little different. It started back in 2011 as a blog focusing solely on free and low-cost stuff for (producing a web site with) RapidWeaver: themes, tools, tips, tricks, anything, as long as it was free – or low-cost.
Over time, the Stacks plugin became more popular, and coding yourself was no longer an option for many people, so I started to develop my own stacks in the spirit of the blog: free (well, actually pay-what-you-want) and low-cost.
This blog evolved with it, and is now primarily about those new stacks, although from time to time I will post about other free and low-cost stuff for RapidWeaver.

Do you know something free (or low-cost) & useful related to RapidWeaver not mentioned here? Have a suggestion for a subject to write about here or for a new stack?
Tips, questions and remarks are always welcomed.
Just and help expand this little blog!

New version RapidAlbum released

Amidst all the havoc of the release of numerous stacks (due to the release of the Stacks 2 plugin), one could easily overlook another important update: that of RapidAlbum 1.2.2.
For those who don't use it yet: RapidAlbum is a free plugin made by Scott Mackie that I think should be part of your basic RapidWeaver toolkit. It's like the built-in Photo Page on steroids: it has lots of templates (including popular light boxes and slideshows like PrettyPhoto, Galleria and Highslide), is fully customizable, can have automatic sub albums and more. It is one of my all time favorite plugins, and thanks to Scott the price can't be beaten: it's absolutely free! I use it a lot, most of the time imported into another page with PlusKit's . This works great, and in many cases saves you the cost of a stack that could do the same.

(A short side note: I read on the RapidWeaver User Forum that some people consider plugins to be obsolete now we have Stacks 2. I think RapidAlbum proves that this is far from true!)

A few days ago, Scott released a new version which is mainly a maintenance release fixing the ‘plugin not found’ issue in RapidWeaver 5 and a few other problems and glitches, but also added a Galleria template*. Read all about it and download the new version here*. Scott explains on his website where he’s heading with RapidAlbum (consider leaving a thank you message to him here).

* these links are dead now.

Let's all be grateful that there are people like Scott in the RapidWeaver community who make such great software without asking money for it.
